Mission Statement:
Orange County Community College is committed to promoting equal access to education for students with disabilities in an environment that respects and values their differences and encourages self-advocacy and self-determination.
If a student disagrees with a decision made about his or her accommodations, or feels that he or she has been denied access to the College's programs or activities because of a disability, he or she should express concern to Ms. Madeline Torres-Diaz, Director of Student Support Initiatives, at 341-4407.
General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for accommodations, students must register with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) and provide documentation of their disability. The documentation must have been obtained within the past three years.
All documentation of disability must be provided to ODS on professional letterhead and contain the date of assessment, signature, title and license/certification numbers of the diagnosing professionals. Diagnoses of disabilities that do not contain the required information may not be used for determining eligibility for academic accommodations. ODS reserves the right to request reassessment when questions arise regarding previous assessment or previous service provision.
** NOTE: IEP/504 PLANS, SUMMARY OF PERFORMANCE (SOP) AND SOCIAL SECURITY AWARD LETTERS ALONE ARE NOT SUFFICIENT DOCUMENTATION TO DETERMINE ELIGIBILITY.
